Then Off to MC the Main Stage at Juneteenth
 

The Twenty-Second Annual Juneteenth Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Penn Park. The Celebration will kick off at 10:00 a.m. with the Annual Parade, which starts in the Fountain of Life Family Worship Center’s parking lot located at 633 West Badger Road and going down Badger Rd. to Park St. and ending at Penn Park. This year’s theme is: “Juneteenth 2011…Celebrating Our Contributions, Past, Present and Future. Juneteenth is a wonderful opportunity to experience the rich history of Black Americans through various forms entertainment, lectures, visual presentation, food and other activities. Juneteenth provides the opportunity for your group or agency to reach a significant portion of Madison’s Black American community. Our many partnerships have increased the Celebration’s ability to draw a wider audience from across Dane County.

So the slam begins at 8pm (show ends at 10pm) Saturday June 18th 2011. But....I suggest getting there early (7-7:30pm to get a seat), it does fill up quickly......In between the slam performers there will also be an open mic...so not only do you get to hear great slam/spoken word artists....you get to enjoy what's always a great open mic....
