The NBA has been in "lockout" mode since July 1 with no end in sight to the dispute that threatens the 2011-12 season. Jordan, majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, becomes the third person fined $100,000 after comments from Dallas owner Mark Cuban and Washington owner Ted Leonsis.
League spokesman Tim Frank confirmed the penalty but declined to comment on the amount of the fine, however ESPN reported the six-figure sum.
Jordan, when asked if Bogut's Milwaukee Bucks were typical of a team that would benefit from rigid salary cap rules, told the Herald Sun that change to the "broken" system was critical
"We have stars like Bogut who are entitled to certain types of demands. But for us to be profitable in small markets, we have to be able to win ballgames and build a better basketball team."
The 10-time NBA scoring champion will make his first visit to Australia in November as the vice-captain of the American Presidents Cup team at Royal Melbourne Golf Club
