Rocawear Targets South Florida Wholesaler With Lawsuit

The proprietor of two South Florida wholesale companies is being taken to court by the owners of the Rocawear for allegedly making knockoff garments of the clothing label founded by rap moguls Dame Dash and Jay-Z.

Attorney's representing Rocawear and Rocawear Licensing LLC filed a lawsuit in the Southern District of Florida in the Fort Lauderdale division accusing Bargain Wholesaler and Top Brand Wholesalers owner Ahmad Jamhour of marketing bogus Rocawear products, specifically jean capris and ladies tops.

In a Recent Interview Black Enterprise to discuss the strategy of letting Beyonce go and expanding his empire.

After 20 years working as a successful team, you and your No. 1 artist—daughter Beyonce—decided to part ways. As her father and manager; will not having her under your wings be a difficult transition for you?


Interesting enough the transition started way before the official announcement. If you’re strategic, which we are, you don’t make a decision like that before you start dialogue. That dialogue started nine months ago. At the end of the day, I’m Beyonce’s father first and her manager second. Remember, this is 20 years I’ve been doing this. She’s almost 30 years old and if she says, "I want to run my business," I think she’s smart enough that she will get the right team. Beyonce is smart enough to know what she knows and what she doesn’t know, and that takes an even smarter person to admit that. And she knows she can call me anytime. It takes a lot of hours and a lot of staff to run the business of Beyonce. (Laughs)






You’ve set the blueprint for R&B girl-groups with Destiny’s Child and R&B/pop phenoms with Beyonce, yet you’ve expressed interest in solely focusing on gospel/inspirational music. Why have you chosen to ditch secular music?




First of all, I never use the word “secular” because I believe there are just different genres of music. The reason I chose to focus on faith-based and inspirational music is because of the message and hope and it gives people. Folks, especially young people today, want hope. [Music World’s] goal is to get that message across for the masses. There’s tremendous growth potential for the faith-based inspirational community in digital, production, branding, endorsements and merchandising. I believe we can share 20 years of knowledge and successes to make that happen.




How has Beyonce’s departure affected Music World’s momentum and relevance?



To give that comparison, I evaluate my email activity, which has gone up 100 emails today. Now I’m really focused and I have activated myself in such a way to embrace new opportunities. I’m so grateful and blessed to have had so many successes. I pinch myself sometimes to think of this country boy who has accomplished so much from my career at Xerox to be the No. 1 sales rep, have talented daughters and a wife, the creation of Destiny’s Child, a No. 1 female artist. And I don’t know if folks know this but of all the artists in the world in a decade, Destiny’s Child and Beyonce are on that Top 10 list. I’ve achieved and accomplished more that I could have ever dream.






So after achieving Music World domination—literally and figuratively, what’s next?


(Laughs) One of the things this [decision] has allowed me to do is reduce my overhead and now personally focus on our gospel/inspirational label and to take some days off and some more relaxing time. For the last 20 years I’ve worked quite a bit and even more importantly I can look at other opportunities. I wouldn’t be surprised if one day we land another A-list R&B client or Destiny’s Child (that we still manage) goes on tour or puts out a commemorative box set that includes everything about them that their lifelong fans want.

Basketball Players/Coaches have been indicted in connection with a scheme to fix games

SAN DIEGO (Reuters) – Ten people, including a former assistant coach and two former basketball players at the University of San Diego, have been indicted in connection with a scheme to fix games, federal prosecutors said on Monday.

The defendants were charged in the federal grand jury indictment, unsealed on Monday, with scheming to fix USD basketball games by bribing players and then betting on the games in Las Vegas.

All 10 defendants were charged with conspiracy to commit sports bribery, conduct an illegal gambling business and distribute marijuana.

Hip Hop and R&B Categories CUT from Grammy Awards!!

According to TheBoomBox.com, the Grammys has cut down the amount of hip-hop and R&B honors being given out each year, eliminating gender distinctions in the R&B categories and merging "Best Rap Solo Performance" and "Best Rap Performance for a Duo or Group" into one category.

The classical and American roots music genres have also suffered cuts, losing four awards in each division.

Jay-Z Cost the NEW JERSEY NETS 50K!

The New Jersey Nets have been fined $50,000 due to a mistake by minority owner Jay-Z.

ESPN.com has since confirmed that it is the Nets, because Jay violated league rules that prohibit contact with players that still have remaining intercollegiate basketball eligibility.

The NBA began investigating the situation after a video surfaced in late March, in which Jay-Z is shown visiting various Kentucky players in their locker room at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, after the Wildcats' quarterfinal victory over North Carolina.






Although, it seemed as though Jay was visiting the players as a fan and many believed it to be harmless, Nets officials were expecting a fine, based on previous, similar violations by other NBA executives who were also fined.

Gucci Mane Arrested for PUSHING a woman out of a car!!!

FOX 5 News reports that the rapper real name, Radric Davis, was arrested Friday while visiting his probation officer at the Georgia Department of Corrections Probation Office.




He's been charged with battery, a misdemeanor but will also be charged with violating his probation.



According to authorities Davis was arrested on a warrant that he intentionally caused visible bodily harm to a unnamed female by pushing her out of a moving vehicle.



He is currently being held in the Dekalb County Jail.



Gucci was previously arrested in November and had to be restrained with pepper spray, after police pulled him over for driving on the wrong side of the road.

According to a police report obtained by CNN, the baller was riding in a car with his friend Antwuan Clisby who was pulled over for making a lane change without signaling. According to the report, Clisby couldn't produce documentation for the vehicle and asked id Iverson could leave so he could eat dinner.

When the officer refused, A.I. reportedly became enraged and said,

“Do you know who I am?!”


"I'm the (expletive) passenger!”






Backup was then called and both men were asked to exit the vehicle. Police discovered that the car belonged to A.I. but the tags had expired two years ago prompting police to tell him that the sports car would be towed.  That's when A.I. reportedly continued his tirade as documented and told officers,

"Take the vehicle, I have 10 more. Police don't have anything else [expletive] to do except [expletive] with me. ... Do you know who I am?!"

Prostitute Kills Client After Finding Out He Had Herpes

Ashley Nicole Steele, age 21, is accused of shooting 40-year-old Derrick Gray on February 4 of this year. The Chicago Sun-Times reports the narrative that prosecutors have pieced together of the crime: Steele had apparently arranged to meet Gray in his South Side home to have sex. The two retired to his bedroom for a few minutes, but were interrupted by a knock on the door.

Gray answered the door, while Steele and a witness stayed inside. At the door was a screaming woman, furious at Gray for having given her an STD. Steele went to investigate the commotion, but not before grabbing a handgun from a night-table and putting it in her waistband, police say.

When she was told that Gray had herpes, she went back into the house and began pacing, telling the witness that she was going to rob and kill her client. When he entered, she threatened him with the gun; he tried to flee to the bedroom, but she shot him through the door, entered the room, and shot him several more times. Authorities say she fled through the window and disposed of evidence.

The Chicago Tribune writes that Ashley’s defense attorney sought some leniency from the judge, claiming that she was raised under the care of the state, had only a 10th-grade education, and suffered from bipolar disorder. Still, bail was denied in the case.

She is charged with first-degree murder, according to WGN-TV, and is set to appear in court again on April 26.

MAN SENT TO JAIL FOR BLOWING HIS NOSE

Atlanta cops arrested Alfred Murphy for basically blowing his nose lol! Cops say Murphy ended up in jail because of the paper towels he used to blow his nose. Murphy took the towels off a maintenance cart at an Atlanta Marta station. A MARTA police officer who spotted Murphy told him he couldn’t take the towels, but Murphy kept on pulling them from the cart and blowing his nose.

Once arrested, police discovered Murphy was on probation. He was booked on charges of battery and trespassing.

An elderly Philadelphia woman is in the hospital after being stuck on a toilet for at least 2 days. The 93-year-old woman was discovered Tuesday morning at her home. It is not yet known how the woman was discovered or how she got stuck.
