Rihanna is furious with Jackie. The Dutch glossy magazine called the world-famous singer a "nigga bitch". In a tweet Rihanna accused the magazine of racism. Jackie has issued its apologies for the "bad joke".
The offending item is headed The Nigga Bitch. The piece is meant as fashion advice for girls who want to dress like Rihanna: a good girl gone bad with a ghetto ass - in short, the ultimate nigga bitch.
The magazine itself is 'enormously shocked' by the angry reactions. Ms Hoeke says the headline of the article was intended as a joke - but admits it was a bad joke, to say the least.
Ms Hoeke stresses that "absolutely no racial motive underlaying the choice of words. It was stupid, it was naive to think that this was an acceptable form of slang." On TV and radio, words sometimes fly over your head, and alter your idea of what is apparently normal, she says. She offers Rihanna her apologies on behalf of
Jackie, ending with the words "From the bottom of my heart I say it again: it is never our intention for this to hurt anyone. And I mean that."
